Matt is an associate with Collinson, Daehnke, Inlow & Greco. Matt’s practice focuses on governmental entity defense, with an emphasis on police misconduct and civil rights cases.
Additionally, Matt litigates various general liability matters, including premises liability and product defect cases. Matt has authored numerous dispositive motions on behalf of County of Los Angeles and has obtained favorable settlements on behalf of various public entities and their employees.
Matt was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and thereafter he and his family moved to Wisconsin where he lived until early adulthood.
Matt received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and he received his Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern Law School in 2011. During law school, Matt was a Dean’s Scholar and received the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Constitutional Law, Torts, and Community Property. Matt served as a summer associate at Lambda Legal Defense Fund where he advocated for the civil rights of LGBT individuals and people living with HIV through impact litigation. He also served as a law clerk for the Children’s Rights Clinic where he successfully represented clients before the Los Angeles County Board of Education.
When he’s not working, you can find Matt taking on home improvement projects, watching movies, and hanging out with his dog Luna.
Matt is a member of the State Bar of California, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. McAleer is also a member of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel.
